IN 1985 PARA MEDICAL SCHOOL FOR THE TRAINING OF OPERATION THEATER, SANITARY INSPECTOR, LABORATORY ASSISTANT AND RADIOGRAPHER WAS CONSTRUCTED WITH THE FINANCIAL AID OF ASIAN DEVELOPMENT SCHEME. IN 1987 THE R.A. BLOCK WAS CONSTRUCTED, WHICH IS THREE STORIES AND IS 100 BEDDED. IN 1987 CASUALTY AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT WAS CONSTRUCTED. IN 1989 NURSING TRAINING SCHOOL HAVING THE PROVISION OF 100 STUDENTS AND A HOSTEL WAS CONSTRUCTED IN THE PREMISES OF HOSPITAL. IN 2002 DIALYSIS’S UNIT STARTED FUNCTIONING. IN 2002-2003 NEW OPD BLOCK COMPLETED. IN 2005 PROVISION OF COMPREHENSIVE TRAUMA SERVICES TO THE POPULATION OF THE DISTRICT INCLUDING ORTHOPAEDIC, NEUROSURGERY AND C.T. SCAN FACILITIES.

Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPM&R) Khyber Medical University is the only institute in Public sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which offers five years (ten Semesters) Doctor of Physiotherapy course. Its existence can be correlated with the earthquake which occurred in October 2005 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and some districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in Pakistan and lead to mass destruction of human lives.
