Monthly Pakistan Special is the oldest and largest circulated magazine for over 10 million Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Pakistan and is providing a common platform to the most neglected segment of the society. At present the circulation of monthly Pakistan Special is over 10,000 copies per month. We are the pioneer in advocacy and awareness campaign in Pakistan.For the last TWELVE years a dedicated team of professionals is bringing out this valuable publication from Islamabad (Pakistan) on regular basis. This is totally a non-funded project, which is being run on self-help basis.
Registered with Government of Pakistan under Declaration No. 5730/2(52)-Press/99 dated Nov 1, 1999, Pakistan Special is effectively and efficiently coping with informational, educational, rehabilitational, recreational and social needs of tens of thousands of PWDs in Pakistan.
Certified by Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Special, is on Central Media List, approved by Ministry of Special Education, endorsed by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), ILO (International Labour Organization), the World Bank etc.
Pakistan Special has the largest network of disabled people in Pakistan. It is acting as the mouth piece of disabled community and is being widely read not only in the country but also outside the country.
As an Implementation Agency, Pakistan Special conducted a door to door Survey on disability in District Mansehra covering 6,000 households in 2003 for JICA and same was conducted in Hunza Valley for Karakoram Area Development Organization in 2004. In 2004, Pakistan Special was awarded a contract by The World Bank to monitor small grant recipient NGOs in disability sector throughout Pakistan.
Presently, Pakistan Special is playing a very important role in creating awareness and solving problems regarding disability related issues in the country. The magazine covers all the four main categories of disability i.e. physical, hearing, visual and mental disabilities.
