University Teaching Hospital - DHQ Hospital, Gujranwala
DHQ Hospital Gujranwala is a 450 bedded health facility situated at the cross road of six districts. It caters about 4.00 million people of the District and about 1 million people of the surrounding districts. It is a single health institute in public sector for whole population of city Gujranwala. It also acts as a referral hospital for surrounding districts.
Foundation of Civil Hospital Gujranwala was laid down in 1925 by the then Governor of Punjab Sir Malcolm Hailey. The Hospital was started on 90 Kanal area. Later on further 80 Kanal land was acquired in 1963.
Different departments were established from time to time.
District Headquarter Hospital is attached with Gujranwala Medical College, as teaching hospital.
It has all the major specialties including Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Eye, ENT, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Urology and Trauma Center.
At present the surgical unit is recognized for FCPS by CPSP. Present status of the college is as follows:
a. The basic science departments (Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry) are already functional.
b. Essential specialties (Medical, Surgical, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Eye, ENT, Skin Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Radiology and Cardiology) are functional with qualified staff in District Head Quarter Hospital affiliated with Gujranwala Medical College, Gujranwala
