Lahore Students Union (LSU) is a center for extra-curricular skill development and educational counseling services located in H-Block Commercial Area, DHA Lahore. Our extra-curricular team includes experienced debate instructors who have coached champion teams at national U-19 and U-17 Parliamentary Style Debating tournaments and have been distinguished public speakers themselves.The educational counseling services team has supervised over 100 successful foreign admissions for candidates, and aims to maximize every student’s chances of attending the college/school of their choice. LSU aims to promote a culture of informed debate and discussion among students by providing training courses in Public Speaking and Extempore Debates. Our courses are structured to instill basic Public Speaking skills (Ages 11 – 13) as well as train students in techniques and skills for Parliamentary Style Debates (U-17 and U-19 age groups). Our educational counseling services will make a detailed analysis of a student’s best choices for college admissions and guide them through the application process with a customized plan for every student. Our college counselors can assist both Undergraduate and Graduate students with admission applications to colleges and universities across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore and the UAE, as well as top national institutions like LUMS, LSE, IBA, etc. Assistance is also available to applicants for special scholarships like the USEFP’s Fulbright Program and other academic grants.

Lahore College of Arts & Sciences (LACAS) was established in 1987. Classes began in January 1988. Within three months, LACAS was referred to in the national daily Dawn as “a center of (educational) excellence”. In its 22 years LACAS has more than justified this praise. It was the first co-educational institution to offer A-Level classes. By this pioneering effort the girls of Lahore for the first time got the option of taking the A-Level examinations. Over the years many LACAS students have been declared High Achievers by the University of Cambridge for their outstanding performance in the O-level and A-level examinations. These examinations provide a standard that is recognized internationally and have opened doors of prestigious universities in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Pakistan to our alumni. However it is not just the O-Level and A-Level degrees that provide great opportunity to our students; of equal importance are the extra and co curricular activities for which LACAS is well known. Our students have been selected to represent Pakistan in international competitions and events including the International Physics Olympiad held in Turkey and Taiwan, the conference for Peace between Pakistan and India held in Singapore and conferences on child exploitation and HIV awareness held in Nepal. A LACAS student was also selected to represent Pakistan in the United Nations General Assembly (Special Session) on children in New York. LACAS students have always been part of the five member national team sent to participate in the World School Debates Competition where they have won recognition for their analytical and discursive skills. In 2006 one of our A-Level students was declared the third best speaker in the world. In 2007 the Pakistan team was declared the third best among non English speaking teams. The LACAS team member was again recognized as one of the best speakers at the tournament. LACAS was the pioneer in reviving the tradition of Annual Plays in Lahore. Our Annual productions have won several accolades and acclaim by drama critics. LACAS is the only school which organizes an inter school interpretive reading competition which has gone a long way in promoting and encouraging reading. It is our belief at LACAS that part of a “complete” education is to instill in the students a sense of responsibility towards society; one in which they are lucky to be among the privileged few. To this end LACAS encourages its students to not only organize fund raising events but much more importantly to personally teach in local schools adopted by LACAS. Our A-Level students have initiated an annual “Mela” for the children of the LACAS support staff and organize a fun filled day for the families. From our very young Pre School students to our A-Level students we strive to instill in each child the importance of questioning and enquiry, of courage and informed convictions and of large hearted tolerance.
