Haripur is situated almost 65 KM South east of Islamabad.The Name of Haripur was named Hari Sing Nalwa.who came here in 1822 .Haripur has been promoted as a district in the year 1992.Before that it was a Tehsil of Abbottabad.A great port of population of Haripur live at villages.Its main Bazaar is the biggest market of the area.Most of the shops contain general articles,clothes and jewellery.The shops are well decorated.The Bazaar is very clean and well-cared.The biggest Industrial Estate of the province Khyber pakhtoon khawa is in Haripur that is Hattar Industrial Estate.People from all over the country are getting their earning from here.Thousands of people of district Haripur have their livings associated to Hattar Industry.This Industrial Estate is playing a vital role in economy of the country.Few decades back Telephone Industries of Pakistan the one and the only industry which was fulfilling all the necessities of Telecom field.And about seven thousands people were getting their earnings from TIP.There is a Railway Station in Haripur as well.It is a very beautiful.The river Dorr enters Haripur through a spot called Lora chowk and becomes a part of Tarbela Dam.Tarbela dam is the biggest dam of the world made of soil.The water of river Dorr has been brought to the Haripur city at Sara-e-salah in a paved canal and at a spot of Rangella it is further divided into five big drains.From east they enter the city in form of further smaller drains through which water flows all the time.
