The glaring proof of its academic excellence is the historic result produced by PCIT students for the Rawalpindi Board Examination 2009. The College got record 12 positions in Board Examination 2009 in different disciplines. PCIT illustrious students Atiqa Anwar,
Maeira Imtiaz and Iqra Shakeel got top three positions in Pre-Engineering Group among Girls and Moin Ahmed got second position in Pre-Engineering Group among Boys. Sahar Bano and Tehrim Amjad won Second and Third positions in Pre-Medical among Girls and M. Asad Farooqi won Third position in Pre-Medical among Boys. M. Hassan Shahzad and Syed Dawar Zaman got Second and Third positions in General Science Group respectively. These excellent results not only portray the professional excellence of the Faculty but also the intellectual superiority ofPCIT students.
The facilities at the Campus are unique. All classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with multimedia systems. Great importance is attached to academic discipline, intellectual growth and personality development. Students enjoy the facilities of the most modern and well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Labs for their practical training. The most modern electro –print Library stocks a large collection of the electronic aids, printed books and periodicals.
The College management always encourages its students to participate in sports and extra-curricular activities. Rawalpindi Board Sports Trophy for the year 2009-2010 was won by PCIT Rawalpindi securing 1st position in events namely Basket Ball, Badminton, Kabbadi, Cross Country, Football and Volley Ball. PCIT maintained its glory and supremacy in BISE Sports for the tenth consecutive year. In the Annual Athletic Championship of Rawalpindi Board, Danish Mehmood of PCIT Rawalpindi was declared the “Best Athlete†for the year 2009-2010. Zara Sohail of PCIT won five Medals for her College in Girls Sports 2009 held by Rawalpindi Board.
To satiate the educational needs of the students, Quiz programs are arranged on regular basis. To lessen the strenuous educational burden, the College also arranges different recreational programs like trips to Murree and Kalaam, Cultural Show, Funfair and Mushaira, Students Gala, Bon-Fire, etc during the academic session.
Quiz Programmes:
Quiz programmes are an integral part of the academic session of the college. They aim at providing entertainment and education to the students at the same time because the questions asked in these programmes are set from the syllabus. These programmes assist students so much in preparation of exams that most of the board toppers are former quiz winners. Many eminent educationists and scholars are invited in these programmes as guests of honour in order to share their experience with the future generation.
Debates:
The Literary Society of the College organizes debate competitions every year on burning issues in order to polish the communication skills and confidence of the students. Judges are the celebrities from different walks of life.
Mehfil-e-Milad:
The life of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) has always been a beacon of light for the humanity. In order to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the college organizes a Mehfil- e- Milad every year during the last decade of Ramadan. Students of the college glorify the greatness of the life and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in their passionate voices. This sacred gathering is so well arranged that it is telecast on several private TV channels afterwards.
Annual Mushaira:
Annual Mushaira is yet another co-curricular event aimed at enhancing and applauding the creative literary spirit of the youth. Students feel elevated when they get an opportunity to recite their poetic effort before the prominent literary figures of the country. Distinguished poets like Ahmad Faraz, Anwer Masood, Amjad Islam Amjad, Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Atta ul Haq Qasmi, Saad Ullah Shah, Farhat Abbas Shah and other literary figures of the country often adorn the mushaira evenings with their charismatic presence.
Musical Concerts:
Musical concerts are like whiffs of fresh breeze that break the tiresome and hectic routine of studies at the college. Both students and teachers enjoy such musical evenings a lot. Many heartthrob singers and bands of the nation like Atif Aslam, Ibrar ul Haq, Junoon, Najam Sheraz and Faakhir amuse the audience off and on with their memorable performance.
Cultural Festivals:
To revive our cultural norms in the era of prevailing foreign influence, the college plays its part by organizing cultural festivals every year. The trademark features of these festivals include different sports events, stalls, regional dresses' competitions and various other cultural and entertaining activities.
Sports:
The students of Punjab College excel in co-curricular and extra curricular activities alike in the Annual Sports Day of the College. Students compete for badminton, cricket, cycling, shot put, athletics, tug of war, etc. The day starts with a colourful and disciplined march past of the participating houses and ends with a ceremonious prize distribution. Such activities inculcate discipline and sportsmanship in the students so much so that they ultimately win the general trophies of the board and the university every year.
Al-Razi, the College Magazine,
The College Magazine, Al-Razi covers all the academic and co- curricular activities on one hand and it gives opportunity to the students of the college to explore and polish their hidden capabilities on the other hand. The students in the editorial board also learn how to work in a group with their teachers. The Magazine is a complete book having literary, humorous, and scientific works of the students as well as teachers.
Tours:
Recreational trips to Murree, Kallar Kahaar, Swat and Kaghan are the most awaited entertaining events in the college life of the students at PCIT. During these trips the college arranges for the students sumptuous dinners, exciting bonfires and opportunities to refresh themselves for further studies.
Monthly Tests / Send up
To assess the learning ability of the students on monthly basis, PCIT has a very disciplined and regular system of monthly tests. The results of these tests are promptly dispatched to the parents.
Similarly, Send up exams are the most momentous academic activity of the session. Through these exams the students get an idea of the board exams and thus prepare themselves for it.
