Chand Bagh School, the first project of Chand Bagh Foundation opened its doors in September 1998 as a fully Residential Public School. It was established by Late Lt.-Gen Ghulam Jilani Khan on the pattern of his Alma Mater the Doon School at Dera Doon, India.
The Vision of the Founders was to establish a unique educational institution having its own characteristics and environment, distinguishing it from the day schools, grammar schools, boarding schools or a combination thereof. At Chand Bagh School the entire community of students, teachers and their families, staff, servants and their dependents, live, work and play together, sharing all their problems, anxieties, joys and sorrows. This develops an ethos wherein the School becomes a living and pulsating extended family. Living and working together in an environment which is their home and abode, the interaction between students, teachers and community as a whole helps in achievement of wider goals. Indeed friendliness and mutual trust is a salient feature of life at Chand Bagh School. The on campus atmosphere and environment is stimulating, inspiring and conducive to creative activity, learning and inquiry. This serves as a tool to prepare boys for the challenging, fast changing and demanding contemporary world.
The success of such a system depends upon the selection of competent and dedicated teachers of the highest caliber and motivation. Great pains are thus taken to select the teachers and to facilitate them in an effective discharge of their duties. Teacher/Student ratio is maintained at 1:12 to ensure individual attention. In addition each boy is assigned to one Master who acts as his tutor, friend and the guide. The emphasis is on more informal relationship between the teacher and boy. Similarly discipline is based on cooperation and common sense rather than authority.
A unique component of the vision is to inculcate dignity of labor and to serve the community by engaging in socially useful productive work. The resolve is to show that our next generation is worthy and capable of leading the world.
